Tec Basics Distinctive Specialty

Class Description: This course is a bridge from recreational to technical diving. It exposes recreational divers to tec diving and entry level tec diving skills and equips them with the information they need to decide whether or not to accept the additional risks and commitment that PADI Tec courses demand.

About the Class: the Tec Basics specialty runs within recreational limits, using segments from PADI Tec 40 Dives one and two. Students get to practice fundamental tec skills before enrolling in the PADI Tec 40 program.

What You Can Do: You will have gained experience in the skills needed for tec diving and the dives you perform in this course can count towards the Tec 40 course.

Prerequisites: Must be certified as an Advanced Open Water diver or above.

Equipment: The equipment for this course is similar to a typical technical rig. You will use a multiple cylinder set-up with multiple regulators. Equipment that will handle a stage cylinder with separate regulator, reel or spool, knife/cutting device, slate, compass, and lift bag or DSMB.

What's Next: You will have performed many of the skills from the Tec 40 course. If you decide that tec diving is for you, the skills you performed in this course can count towards requirements for the Tec 40 course.
