Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Diver Specialty

Class Description: The Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Diver Specialty is a good specialty for those divers that are making dives that are deep or go over long distances. The DPV helps a diver to get to where he/she is going without getting exhausted and using excess air. DPVs are also helpful for disabled divers that don't have the full use of their legs to move them through the water.

About the Class: You begin by reviewing the DPV Diver Manual and completing the Knowledge Reviews. We have a classroom session, where we discuss DPVs and how to use them. We then do two Open Water dives to practice using the DPVs.

What You Can Do: You will have additional background knowledge to use if you plan to purchase your own DPV. You will have learned the basics and be able to more confidently plan and make dives with an owned or rented DPV.

Prerequisites: You must be at least 12 years old and an Junior/Open Water Diver.

Equipment: You may purchase your own DPV but the Scuba Shop can rent you a DPV.

Costs: Info coming soon.

What's Next: The Diver Propulsion Vehicle Diver Specialty counts towards your Master Scuba Diver Rating.
