Boat Diver Specialty

Class Description: A great way, and sometimes the only way, to access certain dive sites is by boat. Learn about dive boats, the techniques for managing your equipment on the boat, and getting in and out of the water.

About the Class: You begin by getting the Boat Diver Manual and completing the Knowledge Reviews. We have a classroom session to discuss diving from a boat. We then complete two boat dives, where you put what you learned into practice.

What You Can Do: You will be more aware of the features of the boat in the event of an emergency. You will know how to best pack and set up your diving equipment. You will also be more aware and comfortable with different ways of getting into and out of the water.

Prerequisites: You must be at least 10 years old and a Junior or Open Water Diver.

Equipment: There is little extra gear needed for this course. You may want to get yourself a nice bag to hold your equipment and have a Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (DSMB) if you don't already have one.

Costs: Info coming soon.

What's Next: Why not take a dive trip where you can spend a week doing boat dives? The Boat Specialty counts towards your Master Scuba Diver rating.
