BSA Scuba Merit Badge

Helpful Information

Scuba Merit Badge

The Boy Scouts of America implemented the Scuba Merit Badge in 2009. Scuba diving is a challenging and rewarding activity for boy scouts. They will learn to safely use modern scuba equipment and be able to explore many underwater areas that are unseen by non-divers. I am a Scuba Merit Badge counselor for the BSA and I can help boy scouts get their Scuba Merit Badge. There are only a few requirements to earn this Merit Badge.

1. Demonstrate a knowledge of scuba related First Aid and CPR.
2. Have earned the Swimming Merit Badge.
3. Discuss the Scuba Diver's Code.
4. Earn an Open Water Diver Certification from an approved training agency.
5. Discuss scuba related ecosystems.
6. Research and discuss three different career opportunities in the scuba industry.

Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to set up training for your Boy Scout Troup. I can also assist with setting up a Scuba BSA session. Scuba BSA is an introductory scuba experience that gives scouts a chance to use scuba equipment, practice some skills and have a bunch of fun in a local pool.
