About Me

My name is Brett Halderson and I am a PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) Certified SCUBA Instructor. I am currently rated as a Master Scuba Diver Trainer.

Although I've always enjoyed the water by swimming, snorkeling and free diving, I didn't take the plunge into SCUBA diving until I was in my late 30s. I became Open Water Certified in 2007. Shortly thereafter, I completed my Advanced Open Water, Rescue and Divemaster certifications.

I work full-time for a police department and I have conducted a lot of training. Because I enjoy training others, I decided to become a SCUBA Instructor. I received my Instructor certification in May 2010, in Florida.

Much of the SCUBA training that I do is through Diver's Realm in Appleton, Wisconsin. I do the typical scheduled class for Open Water SCUBA certification. More frequently, I do training for specialty classes and people wishing to get certified that have busy schedules to work around. Sometimes people will want to get scuba certified for an upcoming trip but will be leaving before the next scheduled class is finished. Other times, people have busy schedules and cannot make the regular scheduled classes. For these people, we usually have a smaller class sizes and work around difficult schedules.

The Boy Scouts of America implemented a Scuba Merit Badge in 2009 and I am a registered Merit Badge Counselor for this badge. I can assist Boy Scouts in earning the Scuba Merit Badge.

I returned to Florida in October 2011 to complete my Deep Tec Diver certification and my Tec Instructor certification. I also completed a "Cavern" and "Intro to Cave" course.

I received my Deep Tec Instructor Certification in June 2012.
